It’s 3D time… but I’m not speaking about 3D print!
Around the world a lot of companies are working to switch from 2D to 3D. To scan the world in 3D!
You know Ingress? It’s a game AND it’s the Google project to use normal people as agents to map wifi signals and create a new method to localize laptops, smartphones and tablets without GPS.
Ingress, with data collected from Android, Chrome and from all people cherished the Google DNS, was the last piece of a puzzle. Now Google have a really good 2D world map, with geolocalized cells, routers and mobile devices.
And now?
Now it’s time to add a dimension!
In the next months we will discover new apps and games that encourage users to take pictures and video framing everything that’s around them. All pictures and video produced in this way have information about position, time and angulation. Google will no longer use the Google Map Car to collect images of the world and soon we will see the maps we are used to evolve upwards.
Protection of privacy? Bye bye! Probably will be like in Deja Vù…
